Reflecting on yesterday is a journey I embark upon with both reverence and resilience. Each moment of my past holds a mirror to the struggles I've faced—moments of pain, confusion, and doubt that seemed insurmountable at the time. These were the days when the shadows of disease, trauma, and different abilities cast their longest gaze, often leaving me feeling isolated and overwhelmed. Yet, as I look back, I see not just the hardships but the immense growth and strength that emerged from them.
What’s most important is the fact that Prowl The LAB isn't just a company; it's the culmination of my life's journey—a journey rooted deeply in resilience and the unwavering support of my loving parents, Charles and Carol, in the heart of Atlanta. From a young age, I was confronted with a series of diagnoses that would shape my path in profound ways. At thirteen, I was diagnosed with adenomyosis; by nineteen, it was endometriosis; at thirty-three, Lupus; and at forty-one, breast cancer, though I sensed its presence long before. Along the way, I accumulated a total of eight diagnoses, each adding another layer to the complex tapestry of my life. These trials, from girlhood to womanhood, left me grappling with dysfunction, hidden challenges, deep-seated anger, and silent frustration. I just wanted to be normal—what I mistakenly assumed every other young girl, teen, or young adult was. Now, I realize the inaccuracy and the trap of that way of thinking. I realize now that there were so many others suffering in silence, lost in the dark sticky web of shame, ugliness, and loneliness.
Yet, it is in the midst of these struggles that I found a deeper purpose. Prowl The LAB is my answer to the pain, the shame, and the invisibility I experienced while navigating the healthcare industry since the tender age of nine. Through reflection, I've come to appreciate the fact that these trials have led me here—to this very moment of sharing my story of strife, fear, anguish, and ultimately, triumph. It stands as my promise to usher in a new era—one where women across the globe, shadowed by disease, trauma, and different abilities, are empowered to advocate for themselves, embrace their sexuality fully, and embark on their unique path to wholeness.
